ConvertZ

The ConvertZ engine, the substitutes for characters missing from Big5 and GBK, and the frequency tables used for detection all come from ConvertZ 8.02 and ConCmd 1.5 by Alfred Li Chi Shing (李志成), Hong Kong:

ConvertZ is freeware "for personal use only, not for any commercial purpose", and the data carries the same restriction. tools/extract_convertz_data.py in the source tree documents how the data is extracted from a ConvertZ installation.

OpenCC

The default engine uses the dictionaries from OpenCC 1.4.2 (STPhrases, STCharacters, TSPhrases, TSCharacters, and the Taiwan and Hong Kong glyph and vocabulary tables), licensed under the Apache License 2.0. tools/fetch_opencc_data.py downloads a given release.

ConvertZZ

Some features were inspired by ConvertZZ, another remake of ConvertZ. ConvertZZ is GPL-3.0; RustZ uses none of its code or dictionary files.
